Here is a guide to the mattress options available for Ultimate Campers—and some insights into why we’ve made the choices we have.
Standard Option
Our standard mattress is a 100mm plain Dunlop foam. It’s a medium-density foam that suits most people and keeps things simple and lightweight. All Dunlop foam products – including mattresses are infused with Ultra-Fresh, which is a proven anti-microbial compound. Controlling the growth of Mould, Mildew and Bacteria.
Upgraded 70/30 Mattress
As you move up the range, like in the Nexus model, we introduce a layered combination:
- 30mm FusionGel memory foam (or Cool Max as we refer to it) on top -which moulds to your body for excellent support, balances your temperature and allows for instant comfort.
- A firmer Enduro foam base – this foam
This keeps the mattress at 100mm while giving you a softer feel on top without compromising support.
Premium Plush 70/60 Option
For those who prefer more plushness, we have a 130mm option:
- FusionGel memory foam top layer
- A soft middle comfort layer
- Enduro foam base
(This one is our most luxurious option—and it’s Bronwyn’s personal favourite.)
Extra-Long Option Premium Plush 70/60
For taller customers, we now offer an extra-long mattress add-on that extends seamlessly with our new folding system—still compact, still easy to stow.
The same key features of our Premium Plush 70/60 options, just longer!

Why We Designed It This Way:
As the owner of Ultimate Campers, one of my key goals has always been to make our campers as quick and easy to use as possible—without sacrificing comfort or luxury.
That’s why we designed mattresses that:
- Fold and store easily
- Work with our integrated bedding system
- Allow bedding to stay in place during pack-down
- Are lightweight, unlike heavier pocket spring alternatives we’ve trialled before
Better Value, Better Comfort:
We’ve also recently adjusted our pricing across the board—making these mattress upgrades even more cost-effective for our customers. It’s part of a broader push to ensure our options remain competitive, while still being premium in both comfort and practicality.
One final note—we’ve noticed a few people looking at non-factory mattresses. While we understand the appeal, these often don’t fold properly and take longer to set up, which goes against our whole design philosophy. If you want quick setup, compact pack-down, and smart design—we recommend sticking with the factory options.
Hope this clears up the choices available—and helps you choose the right mattress for your next off-road adventure!
