Crossing Australia, East to West, the ‘Hard Way’

Proud Nautilus owners Mark and Julie Delroy have recently completed an epic 5,000km ‘east to west’ crossing of Australia … the hard way!

After picking up their brand-new Nautilus from Ultimate Camper’s showroom in Southern NSW, they headed north to Fraser Island in QLD where they met up with fellow Nautilus owners Paul and Jillian Murray at the Fraser Island ‘Muster’. During a cold, wet night at the muster, they were impressed by the ability to comfortably seat 6 people inside the camper for a game of cards, with room to spare.  After comparing notes and impressing fellow campers with the way in which modern day ‘camping’ is done, the Delroys headed west via Longreach, Birdsville and Coober Pedy to tackle the full length of the Anne Beadell Highway and on to their home near Margaret River WA. This ‘highway’ is in fact a 1,300km sandy, dusty, heavily corrugated track constructed as part of the Woomera rocket testing program, and passes through some of the most remote regions of Australia.

Mark and Julie were very impressed with the reliable performance, comfort and convenience offered by the Nautilus, especially the gas heater on cold nights!

As a result of this real-world ‘torture test’ they were also able to provide the Ultimate Campers production and development teams with valuable feedback and suggestions about where certain improvements could be made. These suggestions will inevitably be integrated into the Nautilus development program as part of Ultimate’s continuous improvement policy.

We know we already have the world’s best off-road campers on our hands but we’re happy to make them even better!
