Tyre pressure must suit the approved tyre, wheel, actual load, speed and conditions. A single universal highway or off-road pressure is not safe advice for every combination.
Inspect before pressure
- Correct tyre size, load rating and speed rating
- Tread, sidewalls, valves and bead condition
- Wheel damage and correct wheel hardware
- Tyre age and service history
- Matching spare and suitable changing equipment
Establish a baseline
Begin with Ultimate's current guidance and the tyre manufacturer's load information for the measured axle load. Check pressures cold with a reliable gauge and understand the safe limits before adjusting for terrain.
Monitor during travel
- Stop after the first section and inspect temperature and pressure trends
- Recheck after sharp impacts or difficult tracks
- Remove embedded stones and inspect cuts
- Investigate repeated pressure loss rather than repeatedly topping up
