Use the same physical walk-around before every departure. A written order reduces the chance that interruptions leave a critical step incomplete.
Camper secured
- Roof, lid, canvas, doors, windows and hatches locked
- Awning, poles, steps, stabilisers and jockey wheel stowed
- Loose interior and external equipment secured
- Gas, water and electrical systems in travel state
- Tyres and wheels visually checked
Connection secured
- Coupling fully seated and locked
- Safety chains correctly attached
- Breakaway cable attached independently
- Electrical plug, brakes and camera connected
- Handbrake released only when ready to move
- Number plate and lamps visible
Functional check
- Indicators, brake lights, tail lights and clearance lights
- Brake-controller response at low speed
- Mirrors and camera view
- No people, pets, chocks or equipment remain around the camper
